Revisioning Faith Formation Adult Cohort

I’m writing to invite you to be a part of the second Revisiong Faith Formation Adult Cohort* at St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Augustine’s parishes. This cohort is a continuation of the faith formation committee’s initiative to revision faith formation in our parishes.  Cohort participants will learn the language and actions of faith as they pray, study and reflect together.  The cohort is designed to focus on several aspects of community and faith:

·         Just as each one of us finds home with our families, our church must become home and family to our members.  This means that people must learn to greet each other in love, accepting difference and similarity in one another as blessing.  People must make time to sit with one another, to share the rhythms of life with one another.  We need to physically live the reality of our relationship as brothers and sisters in Christ, united as children of God.

·         As worshipping communities, we must embody the celebratory joy of Christ’s life, death and resurrection.  We must continue to invite all to the table – and truly believe that we and the “other” belong at table together!

·         As educational communities, we must continue to emphasize and support living habits of faith.  This support must include the understanding that we are all baptized priest, prophet and king.  We must live faith as we teach it, giving credibility to our words in action.

·         As members of a larger world, we must engage others in love, allowing time and space to hear difference and pain.  We must speak out against injustice and advocate for peace.

·         As people of God, we must recognize the profound reality that our lives are not about us and reach out in active service to others.

I ask you to look over the enclosed brochure, then prayerfully consider submitting your application to join the group.  Applications are due back to the parish offices by March 5 to ensure ample time to choose and inform participants prior to our March 20 retreat.

  Thank you,

Lisa Neu, Director of Faith Formation

*Cohort = group of people that stick together.  In this context, it means that the twelve people chosen for this group will continue throughout the process together.
