Stations of the Cross

The children of St. Augustine's and St. Mary's Cathedral School walked through "real-life" stations this Tuesday.  Each station connected Jesus' journey with objects and places the students see every day.

Station 8: Jesus speaks to the women of Jerusalem

We stand just outside the kitchen as our cooks clean up.  We think about how the cooks help us just like the women of Jerusalem were comforted by Jesus.

Station 9: Jesus falls a third time

We look at a rosary's crucifix.  We think about our prayer and Jesus prayer as God helped him with his struggles.

Station 10: Jesus' clothes are torn off

We stand under the flagpole and think about how the flapping flag looks like clothes being torn off.  We think about how we can help others without food or clothes.

Station 11: Jesus is nailed to the cross

We gather around the nurse's station to remember all the people who have been hurt.  We think of Jesus hurting as he was nailed o the cross.

Station 12: Jesus dies

We look at a list of people who have died this year.  We remember them and that life always ends in death.

Station 13: Jesus is taken down from the cross

We notice the bare branches of a tree.  We know that even though it looks dead, it will show life in the Spring.

Le adoramos a O' Christo le bendecimos porque por la cruz santa Usted ha redimido el mundo. (We adore thee, O Christ and we bless thee because by the Holy Cross, thou hast redeemed the world.)

Station 14: Jesus is buried

We come to the altar, as a sign of reverence for the sacrifice that Jesus has given us.  We kneel in thanksgiving in hopes and dreams of eternal life.
