Lent: Week Six Continued

The best part of the Castaway trip of 2006 was getting to know a few people enough that I would call them friends.  These people were in my church and other communities.  In the small group the best part was the end when all 9 youth could see faith in the other faces.  Nicole

Castaway is the biggest funnest and best Catholic retreat that our Church offers.  You get to meet nee people while celebrating your faith in a way that teens enjoy.  I will never regret going.  Jessie

Something that I like about the Castaway weekend was how I got to meet new people and reunite with my old friends and get to pray and worship with them. A lot of the songs were cool and fun to sing and had sweet actions. (Youth)

This past weekend I attended Castaway up in Detroit Lakes.  This was my 1st year going to Castaways and it was the best experience.  I went up there expecting to have a good time with my friends, which I did, but most of all I had a great time growing in my faith.  Many things helped me grow in my faith this weekend.  First of all the songs we sang, really opened me to God and I never felt that way and had that much fun singing before.  Also being with people who share the same thing helped me grow.  This weekend really taught me a lot and I can’t wait for next year. I went to Castaway thinking I was just going to have a good time with my friends but after the first night I knew I was going to get more out of the weekend.  I met so many cool people who wanted to express their faith also.  Overall it was a great experience that I would love to do again.  Alli

This weekend I learned that showing your faith is OK.  I really enjoyed singing with everyone.  Getting involved was a blast.  It really introduced me to another side of my faith and it made it a lot more interesting from a young person’s point of view.  Leah

This weekend at Castaway I learned that making a fool out of myself singing is really fun!  In my Church we don’t sing much and at Castaway I really got into it.  Castaway was also a great way to meet new people. (Youth)

Castaway…  What can’t I say?  Well, I guess a lot of things.  Anyways, it was quite enjoyable.  How couldn’t it be?  When groups of faith filled (and slightly hyper) youth get in a room and start to singing and dancing, hilarity most certainly. Another fine craze of the Castaway experience is unparallel whit, and grossness (in the Friday evening skits) pretty much sums it up.  If you go on Castaway prepare for a very good time.  (Youth)

I have been to Castaway 7 different times now.  Once as a youth and 6 times as the Youth Minister of St. Augustine’s Parish.  Each time I grow in my faith as I see young adults open there hearts, eyes, and minds to see Jesus in everyone around them.   This is a really neat way to spend time with youth and show them what our Catholic Faith is. -Suzy Amundson
