Volunteer Ministries
The are many volunteer ministries and opportunities to serve the parish and members of our faith community.
Help the Information Desk
Provides a personal welcome to newcomers and parishioners before and after each of the weekend liturgies.Provides a central location for parishioners to pick up information.
Requires 25 minutes per month at a given liturgy.
Information Desk Coordinator
Gains parish volunteers to staff the Information Desk and provides a schedule to them. Makes sure the desk is stocked with necessary materials.
Plant and Flower Care
Provides for consistent care of plants and flowers in the church, parish center and for the outside plantings during the summer. Time commitment: 45 minutes to 1 hour/week
Funeral Lunch
Organizes and serves a lunch for the family and friends of the deceased. Chair people coordinate parish volunteers into groups to serve and communicate with family about needs.
Advent and Christmas Decorations
Assist the Liturgy committee with decorating the church and/or with removal of decorations.
Parish Fancy Work Sale
Prepare hand made needlework and craft items for sale. Set up and clean up. Serve as a clerk the day of the sale.
Childcare
Take care of small children during Sunday liturgy, PEACE or for specific parish events.
Transportation
Provide transportation for parish members to either the doctor, grocery shopping or to Mass. Time commitment varies according to need and to volunteer's availability.
Doughnut Bakers
Early morning riser makes fresh doughnuts that are served and sold at the monthly Men's Club breakfasts.
Rummage Sale
A one-day sale that occurs in the spring and the fall. Help is needed for set-up and setting out items and for clean up which includes loading the truck following the sale. Proceeds go to the Christian Women's Group.
Snow Shoveling
Provide safe walkways surrounding the church and parish center during the winter months so that people can enter safely and easily for weekend liturgies.
Hospitality
Provide a welcoming environment and kitchen preparation, service and clean up for parish events, PEACE, or receptions.
Sunday Collection Counter
Responsible for counting and depositing weekend Liturgy and Holy Day collections. Time commitment is approximately one and a half hours per week on Monday mornings at the bank. Sense of confidentiality a must.
Parish Office Work
Occasional daytime help with answering phones, preparing mailings, collating, materials preparation or bulletin stuffing.
Host Couple for Welcome Sunday
Arrive at Mass 20 minutes early to meet, welcome and accompany a family, as they are welcomed. Join them for a Men's Club Breakfast and make one follow up phone call.
Playground Volunteer
Helps with supervision of students in grades K through 6 for safety.
Time commitment depends on volunteer's availability-once a week, twice a month, once a month; September through May.
Clip and Chat
Enjoy coffee, rolls and visiting while clipping and organizing coupons and receipts (Campbell Soup, Cub Foods, etc.). Gather once a month after the 8:00 a.m. Mass for 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
Media Center
Assist the librarian in fulfilling Media Center operations; variety of tasks.Work in a child-centered environment.
Fish Fry
Held on two dates during Lent. Assist with set-up, food preparation, hospitality, service, or clean up.
